Italians know a thing or two about food and wine. Think: big bowls of penne pasta with fresh parmesan, warm, gooey pizza just out of the oven, and rich, creamy tiramisu. And Bostonians know a thing or two about making these rustic dishes city chic. Not that the North End isn’t great, but why not avoid the traffic and the tourists for a change, and grab a table at award-winning Tomasso Trattoria & Enoteca in Southborough. This suburban spot offers a comfortable setting with genuinely warm service for a delicious meal close to home.

$15 gets you $35 towards authentic food and wine from Tomasso Trattoria & Enoteca. Here you’ll experience the tastes and textures of Tuscany amidst an open kitchen and rustic Italian décor. Following the Italian tradition, Tomasso’s dishes were meant to be shared. The menu changes seasonally using the finest sustainably and humanely raised ingredients from local farmers and fishermen. A recent glimpse showed main courses like braised wild boar and roasted heritage pork chop, as well as delicious dolci like pear and amaretti soufflé or chocolate hazelnut mousse. It’s also the perfect time to taste Tomasso since Chef Justin Melnick recently returned from an eleven-week gastronomic adventure in Italy, and we’re betting he has a few new culinary tricks stashed in that chef’s hat of his.
This gem of a restaurant has won numerous accolades, including Best of Boston 2009 from Boston Magazine for General Excellence in the Western ‘Burbs, America’s 100 Top Italian Restaurants from Zagat and Editors’ Choice from Yankee Magazine. It also scored high marks from Phantom Gourmet and Boston Globe Magazine.
So, pass the pasta, and let’s get it together!

Why “They” Love Tomasso Trattoria:
“Absolutely the best “fine Italian” food you can get in the area, possibly the best I’ve ever had. (And yes, I have eaten at many very good places.)
I now have high expectations, but usually the food is as good or better than I expected. The appetizers are good, the salads are wonderful, and the main dishes are superb. And the whole thing is presented with a food-lover’s attitude, no pretentiousness anywhere.”
—C.S., Acton, MA
“Amazing food and atmosphere. My wife and I went here for our anniversary and were thrilled from start to finish. We had many courses and each one was better than the last. I do not think you can go wrong with anything on the menu.
I really wanted the cheese course for dessert, but did not leave any room. We promised each other that we would be back for cheese and wine sometime soon.”
—Gary B., North Grafton, MA
“I think Tomasso strikes the perfect balance between upscale and comfortable. (Translation: it’s just “dressy” enough to avoid being kiddie central) The room is comfortable and quiet. The lighting and colors are pleasing. We were a party of eight and I found the service to be very good. What stood out was the food. Everything we tried was exceptional. The highlights were: the suppli (fried risotto balls), the polenta french fries, the bolognese, and the red wine risotto. The wine list is extensive and predominantly Italian. Too full to try dessert. We’ll have to go back.”
