If you think that ballet’s not your thing, then you haven’t checked out the Boston Ballet lately. The contemporary touch of Mikko Nissenen, the Artistic Director, can be felt in this company and is consistently reaching a younger, cooler audience. Coppelia is no exception, made even more stunning set in the Opera House, ranked four and a half stars by Yelp.
This sentimental tale about a live-size doll will delight all senses, especially with the Leo Delibes score called “a classic of melody, orchestration, rhythm, and storytelling” by The New York Times. It’s made even more charming by over 20 children from the Boston Ballet School.

Why “They” Love the Boston Ballet:
“I’ve also seen the Boston Ballet perform Jewels, Romeo and Juliet, The Nutcracker, and Black and White, and in the process, completely converted my mountain bike-loving husband to the world of ballet. I should really just buy us season tickets at this point! I grew up taking ballet lessons with and watching performances by the Pennsylvania Ballet Company, along with smaller local companies, and am so happy to have such a world class ballet company in my new home city. I can’t wait to see what they do next!”
- Donna T.
“Boston Ballet kicks ass, quite simply. Since Mikko Nissinen took over in 2002 (I think), this company is entering into a golden age.”
- Alexandra C.
“It was one of the best, if not the best, Nutcracker performances I have seen them do. The costumes, the sets, the dancing, etc were all fabulous, and the little changes that they made throughout were really great. It reminded me of why we decided to make this part of our holiday tradition. It’s awesome.”
