Why “They” Love Redline Fight Sports:
“I just finished a free two-hour “survey” lesson of several techniques including kicking, punching, grappling, take-downs and falls, and man that was one of the best work-outs I’ve ever had. Even as a relative wimp throughout my life, I felt like a pro after some time with Ming – an owner, coach and trainer who was patient, calm, informative and respectful with us relative newbies to kicking ass. Though I’m not sure I’ll ever aspire to be a professional fighter, this could be a great outlet for people looking to get in excellent shape and learn self-defense.”
-Nick H., Cambridge, MA
“Attitude is (almost) everything. The clean bathrooms, barefoot-friendly padded work areas and friendly, respectful atmosphere are major factors in my decision to join up there. Whether I’m there for a taiji class, a sanda (kickboxing) class, or to work on my cardio, this place turned out to be a great recommendation from a friend, so now I’m passing that recommendation along. What you will find: lots of joking around and chatting when people aren’t completely focused on their respective workouts; clean shower areas; helpful and approachable instructors; room to move and do your pre-workout stretching; helpful advice on how to avoid re-injuring that problem knee/ankle/whatever that you hurt while skiing a couple years ago; plenty of encouragement – whether you are just trying to improve your cardio or lose weight, or if you are actually interested in competition.”
-Margaret D., MA
“Yes they focus on fight sports – i.e. MMA, Boxing, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, etc. Their cadre of instructors is top notch and are excellent (and patient) teachers as all should be. Some of the classes are also taught by Crossfit Certified instructors (Fighter Fitness). You will get pushed to your limits, want to die after a great workout…and not to impose a double entendre but is literally right next to the Red Line stop in Central. There’s nothing closer. They’ve got showers and changing rooms. Don’t come here if you’re not interested in a discipline or working hard. They’ve got a full size ring, a couple treadmills and free weights. It is not, REPEAT, it is not the gym to go to if all you want to do is lift weights, but if you want something more interactive and much, much more challenging go to Redline. There are very few people I’d ever thank after kicking my ass and Redline is it…it’s a short list.”
